Payments for Therapy and Medically Required Testing
Any problems regarding payments for therapy should be discussed with Dr. Roberson as soon as the problem arises. Payment may be made by cash, check, or debit/credit card, including Visa, MasterCard, and Discover. A copay is usually required at the time of service for Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO or Humana, which are the insurance/managed care companies for which Dr. Roberson is now paneled at his practice in Phoenix. Insurance-based discounts are accepted only for those companies.
When Dr. Roberson is out of network, insurance forms can still be completed and submitted by the office staff. In such cases, reimbursement from the insurance/managed care company may be sent directly to the patient or family. Therefore, payment at the time of service is often necessary. Such billing should help the patient or family in obtaining possible reimbursement from their insurance or managed care company. Remember, insurance reimbursement often takes 30 to 60 days and sometimes longer.
When non-insurance third parties arrange to pay (in part or in full) for services, special rates may apply. Such an arrangement must be made with the agency first and then with Dr. Roberson. For medically required testing, billing is often for about double the actual testing time since scoring and report writing is necessary.
Non-insurance services, such as educational testing, require payment at the time of the testing. Billing is for double the testing time since scoring and report writing are necessary.
